TULLE ARSENAL, FRANCE .590 PERCUSSION SINGLE-SHOT SERVICE-PISTOL, MODEL '1842 GENDARMERIE', serial no. 27, dated for 1846, with tapering octagonal to round 5in. barrel 'in the white', nipple boss offset to the right of centre, plain isolated back-action humpbacked lock signed 'MRE RLE DE TULLE', plain hammer (screw absent), walnut three-quarter stock with iron furniture including birdshead butt-cap and nose-cap with integral full length fore-end tang, nail-headed ramrod and issue stamps to left hand side of wood
